Website Page Comparison
Compare two pages side by side
What Is the Website Page Comparison?
Give the Website Page Comparison two URLs and it reads both pages in a real browser, then lines them up across 26 checks: titles and descriptions, canonicals and robots tags, headings, word counts, links, images, structured data, social tags and page weight. Every row is marked same or different, both search snippets are previewed together, and the two heading outlines sit side by side.
Key Features
Your Page Next to the One That Outranks It
The quickest way to see why a competitor's page sits above yours is to put the two next to each other. Differences that are easy to miss by eye, like a canonical pointing elsewhere, a missing H1, twice the internal links or a schema type only they use, get a row each, and one filter hides everything that matches.
Rendered, Then Read
Both pages load in a real browser at the same time, so content added by JavaScript counts. Word counts leave out menus, sidebars and footers, so a page with a giant mega-menu isn't credited with copy it doesn't have. Internal and external links are counted as unique URLs, so a link repeated in three places counts once.
Two Pages From the Same Site
Comparing two of your own pages is just as useful. A product template that lost its structured data, a category page that drifted from its siblings or a redesigned page next to the original all show up as a short list of different rows.
Common Use Cases
- Working out why a competitor's page outranks yours
- Checking a redesigned page against the original
- Finding template differences between two pages of one site
- Comparing two similar pages before merging them
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Website Page Comparison free?
Yes. It's free with a ProxyHorizon account, and every account gets 25 runs a day shared across all our data tools. You can read about the tool without signing in, but running it needs an account because each run fetches live data.
What do Only A and Neither mean?
Only A means the value exists on page A and is missing on page B, like a meta description or a Twitter card only one page sets. Only B is the reverse. Neither means both pages leave it out.
Can I compare pages on different sites?
Yes. Any two public pages work, on the same site or on different ones. They do have to be two different pages: two URLs that redirect to the same page are refused.
Why do the word counts differ from my editor?
The count covers the page's main content only, without navigation, sidebars and footers, and includes text added by JavaScript after the page loads. Your editor counts the article body alone, so the two rarely match exactly.
Do you keep the pages?
For 24 hours. Each page read is stored for a day and shared by the page comparison, landing page comparison and similarity tools, so comparing the same page again, against anything, is instant. It only holds public pages. Choose "Read both pages again now" for fresh reads. We also log which tool you ran and when, to apply the daily limit.
