Our Commitment to Data Protection
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a comprehensive data protection law that governs how organizations collect, store, and process personal data of individuals within the European Union and European Economic Area.
At ProxyHorizon, we respect the privacy rights of all our users worldwide. Whether you are based in the EU or not, we apply GDPR-level protections to all user data. This page outlines our data practices, your rights, and how we safeguard your information.
Your Data Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right to Access
You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. We will provide this information in a commonly used, machine-readable format within 30 days of your request.
Right to Rectification
If the personal data we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request that we correct it. You can update most information directly through your account settings.
Right to Erasure
You can request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten"). We will comply unless there is a legitimate legal reason for us to retain the data, such as legal obligations.
Right to Restrict Processing
You can ask us to temporarily stop processing your data in certain circumstances, such as while we verify the accuracy of your data or assess whether our legitimate grounds override yours.
Right to Data Portability
You have the right to receive a copy of your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format, and to transmit that data to another data controller without hindrance.
Right to Object
You can object to us processing your personal data at any time where we rely on legitimate interest (or that of a third party) as the legal basis for processing. We will then stop processing unless we have compelling legitimate grounds.
Lawful Bases for Processing
We process personal data only when we have a valid lawful basis under Article 6 of the GDPR:
Consent
Where you have given clear consent for us to process your personal data for a specific purpose (e.g., subscribing to our newsletter, submitting reviews).
Contract
Where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you (e.g., providing your user account and associated services).
Legitimate Interest
Where processing is necessary for our legitimate interests or those of a third party, provided your rights don't override those interests.
Legal Obligation
Where we need to process your data to comply with a legal obligation or regulatory requirement.
Technical & Organizational Measures
We implement the following measures to protect your personal data:
Encryption
All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3. Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256.
Access Controls
Strict role-based access controls ensure only authorized personnel can access personal data, on a need-to-know basis.
Data Minimization
We only collect personal data that is necessary for the stated purpose. We don't collect data "just in case."
Retention Limits
We implement clear data retention policies. Data is automatically purged when it is no longer needed for its original purpose.
Transfer Safeguards
International data transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users and the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours as required by the GDPR.
