About this tool

What Is the Domain Traffic Overview?

Type a domain and the Domain Traffic Overview pulls Semrush's estimates for it: organic visits month by month, the keywords that bring them, branded against non-branded traffic, the countries visitors come from, the sites it competes with in search, its backlinks and anchor texts, the search ads it runs and how often AI answers mention it. Moz's Domain Authority, spam score and strongest pages sit alongside, so you get a second opinion on the same site.

Where the Numbers Come From

Everything here is an estimate from Semrush's databases, read through a data provider when you run the tool. Semrush models visits from the positions a site holds and the search volume of each keyword rather than measuring them, so use the figures to compare sites and spot trends, not as a stand-in for the site's own analytics. Pick a country to read that market alone; Worldwide adds every country together.

Reading a Competitor's Search Traffic

Start with the trend. A line that climbs month after month usually means content is compounding, and a sudden drop often lines up with a Google core update. Then split branded from non-branded visits: a site that lives on searches for its own name is hard to dislodge but has little room to grow. The keyword table is sorted by the visits each keyword brings, so the top rows point at the pages worth studying.

Links and AI Mentions

Backlinks are counted twice over. Semrush gives the totals, the referring domains and the anchor texts other sites use, and Moz lists the strongest linking domains and pages. A high Moz spam score is worth a closer look before you chase the same links. The AI section shows how often AI assistants mention the domain in their answers and which sources they cite next to it.

Common Use Cases

  • Sizing up a competitor before you target the same keywords
  • Checking a site's traffic trend before buying it or partnering with it
  • Finding the keywords and pages that bring a competitor most of its visits
  • Vetting a guest post or link prospect by authority and spam score

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Domain Traffic Overview free?

Yes. It's free with a ProxyHorizon account, and every account gets 25 runs a day shared across all our data tools. You can read about the tool without signing in, but running it needs an account because each run fetches live data.

How accurate is the traffic estimate?

It's a model, not a measurement. Semrush estimates visits from where a site ranks and how often each keyword is searched, so it's best for comparing sites and watching trends. Large sites tend to land closer to reality than small ones, and a site's own analytics will always differ.

What does Worldwide mean?

Worldwide adds every country database together. Choosing a country reads that database alone, which is better when you care about one market or the site targets a single country.

Why does a domain show no data?

Semrush only tracks keywords a site ranks for in the top 100 and links its crawler has found. A new or very small site can have neither yet. Check the spelling, and try again once the site has a few months of rankings.

Is this tool made by Semrush?

No. It reads Semrush's estimates through a third-party data provider. ProxyHorizon isn't affiliated with Semrush or Moz.

Do you store my results?

No. We log which tool you ran, what you entered and when, so we can apply the daily limit. Results aren't saved, so export them as CSV or JSON if you want to keep them.
